Tropical Chicken is an eco-friendly screen-printing project founded in STUDIO EX

All screen production is conducted in-house, with the utilisation of locally sourced materials. Essential components for achieving professional-grade printing, encompassing frame construction timber, fabrics, decorative elements, illumination equipment, work surfaces, and drying infrastructure, are meticulously fashioned from reclaimed resources.

Emulsions and chemicals employed in the printing process are locally procured and managed following environmentally sound disposal practices.

The guiding ethos of Tropical Chicken centres on environmental sustainability, with a long-term commitment to achieving chemical-free printing by the year 2003, leveraging natural pigments. Collaborative efforts with artists like Ruth Barry are underway to explore fabric dyes derived from plant-based pigments.

This initiative remains receptive to partnerships with artists and individuals enthusiastic about participating in and contributing to the project.
